Terms & Conditions.
Last updated: 5 July 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Word of Mouth ("we", "us") for your use of the Word of Mouth website and app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What the Service does
Word of Mouth records audio you choose to record, produces a transcript of it, uses artificial intelligence to reformat that transcript into a structured document, and stores your recordings, transcripts and documents in your account so you can revisit and download them.
2. Your account
- You must provide accurate information (your name and a working email address) and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Service.
- We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms.
3. Free plan and PRO membership
- The free plan lets you record talks up to 5 minutes long, with full formatting and document downloads.
- PRO membership costs $1 AUD per month and raises the recording limit to 1 hour per talk with unlimited recordings.
- Membership renews automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through "Manage membership" in the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep PRO access until then.
- We may change pricing or plan limits with reasonable advance notice. Price changes never apply retroactively to a period you've already paid for.
4. Payments and refunds
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Because membership is a low-cost rolling subscription you can cancel at any time, we generally don't offer partial refunds for unused time — but nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other consumer protection laws that apply to you.
5. Your content
- Your recordings, transcripts and documents are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- You give us permission to store and process your content solely to provide the Service — including sending audio and transcripts to the third-party AI services that perform transcription and formatting (see the Privacy Policy).
- You are responsible for what you record. In many places it is unlawful to record a person without their knowledge or consent — make sure you have whatever consent the law where you are requires before recording anyone.
- You must not use the Service to create, store or share content that is unlawful.
6. AI output
Transcription and formatting are performed by artificial intelligence. AI makes mistakes: transcripts can mishear words, and formatted documents can misattribute quotes, mislabel references or restructure ideas imperfectly. The Service is a drafting tool — review documents before relying on or distributing them. We are not responsible for inaccuracies in AI-generated output.
7. Availability and changes
We provide the Service "as is". We work to keep it available and your content safe, but we don't promise uninterrupted service, and we may add, change or remove features. If we ever discontinue the Service, we will make reasonable efforts to give you notice and a chance to download your documents.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy for how). We may terminate or suspend access for breach of these terms, and where practical we'll give you a chance to export your documents first.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Australian courts.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant we'll let you know — by email or a notice in the app — before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
